’Nomad Scientist’

In this project, I have been requested to create a movable, inflatable and small “dwelling” for a nomad person. Researching in areas of interests such as sociology and environment I ended up designing for an environmental scientist. The movable structure is going to be on four mobilized legs with the advanced technology of folding inwards and outwards. Those will have the ability to change their heights along the surface that they are placed on, in order for the laboratory to be at a straight vertical position.
The whole inflatable structure will be carried on a small rectangular shaped carried “car” lead up by the motorbike of the user. As the structure inflated the whole dwelling will be unfolded and lifted off the ground. It’s going to be double skin layer. The outer skin will be extra think and resistible to climatic changes. The bubble legs are going to be made up from High Hypalon material, mostly found in inflatable boats. Bed, toilet, shower, ‘office’ and sink; these are all going to be part of the inside material.
Therefore is one continued shape. As soon as the first phase of the inflation finishes the second one is to place the tools needed by the scientist in the dwelling. Additional fixing will be needed for combining the solid materials together. On top of the outside inflatable skin, there will be sewn a ‘Powerfilm Unfolded SolarPanel’, for sustainable energy used. Additionally, the water filtering system is a benefit for sustainable leaving of my nomad. The whole ‘electrical system’ will be stored and work in the “carrying car” underneath the dwelling. Tubes and wires needed to fix on the machines (i.e. air pump and water filter) are passing through the created gap of Outside and inside skin. As soon as all fixings are all position; water funnel, filters and airspeed controls will be placed on the outer skin.
Then the scientist can easily make testings and take samples, producing and publishing the results of pollution to tourists and citizens of London.
